How the service works
A permit application needs more than a project name. Zoning, the building code and other agency approvals can affect the submission. Conservation authorities or the Region of Durham may need to review a property before a permit or occupancy approval is possible. Ask which documents apply to the actual address.
The city’s current notice says new applications use the 2024 Ontario Building Code. Older 2024 transition notices remain on the page but are not a current reason to submit under the old code. Permit review time depends on the completeness and type of the application; no universal issue date is promised.
