Job Summary
TuxMat is hiring a Financial Analyst to join our Finance team. Reporting to the Director of Finance, this role covers forecasting, management reporting, business performance analysis and month-end accounting across our business entities.
You will own the monthly rolling forecast and cash flow forecasts, explain what is driving results across our sales channels and products, and support month-end close. You will also look for ways to improve how the work gets done, including automating recurring reports and manual processes.
This is a hands-on role for someone with strong accounting fundamentals and advanced Excel skills, who works independently, takes ownership of the accuracy of their work and can explain financial results clearly to people outside Finance.
Key Responsibilities
Financial Planning & Analysis
- Own the monthly rolling forecast, identifying and explaining significant changes.
- Prepare and maintain cash flow forecasts across multiple business entities and currencies.
- Build financial models, costing analyses and business cases to support operational and strategic decisions.
Business Performance & Reporting
- Prepare monthly management reports, including budget-to-actual results, explanations of material variances and emerging risks.
- Analyze performance across sales channels, products, platforms and business entities, including revenue, margins, platform fees, payment processing costs, returns and refunds.
- Review spending by vendor and expense category, and recommend where costs can be reduced.
- Present findings and recommendations to the Director of Finance and department leaders.
Accounting & Month-End
- Support month-end close across multiple business entities, including account reconciliations and journal entries.
- Make sure financial information is accurate, complete and properly documented.
- Help strengthen accounting processes and financial controls.
Data, Systems & Process Improvement
- Review financial data for accuracy and consistency, and resolve discrepancies at the source.
- Use advanced Excel, including complex formulas, pivot tables and Power Query, to build reliable reports and models.
- Automate recurring reports and manual processes, using scripting and approved AI tools where they save time without compromising accuracy or confidentiality.
- Document reports, models and automated processes so others can use and maintain them.
Cross-Functional Projects
- Work with department leaders to evaluate performance, spending and operational opportunities, and provide financial analysis for company initiatives.
- Support improvements to financial reporting systems and data management practices.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, Business or a related discipline.
- 3–5 years of experience in financial analysis, accounting or a combination of both.
- Month-end close experience in a multi-entity business.
- Advanced Excel skills, including complex formulas, pivot tables and Power Query.
- Experience with QuickBooks Online or a comparable accounting system.
- Strong financial modelling and analytical skills, with close attention to accuracy.
- Able to explain financial results clearly to both finance and non-finance colleagues.
- Well organized, with the ability to manage competing priorities and meet reporting deadlines.
- A CPA designation, or progress toward a CPA, CFA or CMA designation, is an asset.
- Experience in e-commerce, retail or a product-based business, including marketplace fees, payment processing, returns and revenue reconciliation, is an asset.
- Experience with SQL, Python, Power BI, Tableau or AI-assisted tools for analysis and automation is an asset.
What Success Looks Like
Forecasts are reliable and well explained, month-end is completed accurately and on time, and leaders understand what is driving results across channels and products. Recurring reports take less manual effort over time, and the Director of Finance can rely on your numbers.
This role will be a key support to the Director of Finance as TuxMat continues to grow.
